Yakasah Wehyee
Yakasah, a first-generation immigrant from Liberia, arrived in the US as a refugee at six and grew up in Minnesota. He earned a BA from Hamline University and an MA and PhD in political science from the University of Minnesota, funding his education through student loans and jobs. Yakasah served on the Falcon Heights City Council (2020-2024) as the first Liberian-American and only renter, advocating for sustainability, affordable housing, and infrastructure improvements. He is running for the Minnesota Senate in District 44 with the intention of restoring civility in politics and supporting the middle class.
